Skud

As commercial games get more and more advanced, the freeware world seems to attempt to catch up, resulting in many huge downloads and fancy graphics. But the truth is, most of us love freeware for its simplicity and originality. NeoGen2 have managed to capture both simplicity and originality in their little gem, Skud.

Skud is a game of quick reflexes and a bit of luck. You control a little yellow head which resembles an msn smiley for some reason and your goal is to get to the bottom of a shaft.. sounds simple? Well it is, but that doesnt mean it’s easy! You obviously start at the very top and have to jump down, then you jump from one huge bone to another while collecting little bones, and avoiding floating lava (sure it sounds strange, but in the name of fun, what’s a little weirdness?). Now that sounds easy enough, but this is where it gets fun, alot of the bones just crumble under your butt (well you dont have any feet so...) but they look exactly the same as the other ones, so careful (yet quick) movement is necessary.

Another thing to take note of is there are two kinds of bones, the grey ones, which increase your score, and the gold ones. your HUD displays how many gold bones are in a map, and if you collect them you gain an extra live (up to a maximum of 5), they are usually placed in hard to reach/risky areas. Anyway overall this game is true to the reason I got into freeware gaming, and is so addictive, it shouldn’t be legal!
