Guardian Of Paradise

Guardian of Paradise is a slash-em-up RPG in the style of the Zelda games. While not as long it borrows most of the best elements from the Zelda games.

In GoP You are Tela, your sister, Tina is sick and you have set off to find the healing waters of paradise. Not the most original story but its very well illustrated with well drawn pictures at least... actually the story is a bit more complex then that, but you don't find out till near the end.. but the gameplay is so good that it makes up for the initially bland storyline.Guardian of Paradise is a slash-em-up RPG in the style of the Zelda games. In order to get to paradise, you first have to find the elemental spirits and their respective emblems. Each spirit you find grants you magic powers. The game gets interesting when you find 2 or more spirits. Each enemy represents an element, and will drop different colored mana coins depending on his element. You can only have one spirit equipped at a time so to change elemental magic, you must kill an enemy of that element and pick up his coins. This makes for some very interesting puzzles as you may need the nature's stomp magic to get past a stake in the ground, then use the wind jump magic to jump over a hole, but you must find the enemies and kill them in the right order to get the elements you need.

I managed to beat the game in just over 4 hours, which by rpg standards is rather low, but by freeware's standards its pretty good, and i must say it was a very well spent 4 hours. The graphics are great, very reminiscent of the SNES.
